In November 2007, my sister jumped in her car and drove to Illinois to visit a relative at Thanksgiving (contrary to her husband's advice). I thought that was gutsy, and it sounded fun. So, I was inspired. Since then, I've planned to jump in my car and do a similar trip, visiting friends and family along the way. I don't have a lot of obligations, so I have the time. I'm fairly frugal so I have the resources. So, I'm gonna do it!
Today is my last day at work, a place I've enjoyed and will miss. Yesterday, I had an amazing going away party, complete with a bunch of great road-travel related gifts, including a GPS! Note to co-workers: Thanks to all of you, it was a humbling experience, I will miss you, but I will be in touch : )
I have no new job lined up, and I'm "Jumping off the high dive" to a bit of a hazy (but hopefully a bit adventerous) future.
I plan on heading out on Tuesday 3/25/08 or possibly Wednesday 3/26. I think I'll be on the road 5 to 7 weeks. I'll be documenting the trip here as time allows. Stay tuned!
